On the road... Where I'll be next month
I took a very long break from traveling over the holidays. I didn't leave
the Roanoke area for two months, that's the longest I've stayed put for over a
year. The break is over and I'm back on the road, its fashion season y'all!
Next week kicks off my winter travels with a bang. I'm spending only a few
hours in some locales and a couple days in others. The best way to keep track
of my adventures is through my Facebook or twitter feed. That being said,
here's my tentative schedule between February 7th - 12th.
* In Richmond next Thursday afternoon.
* Friday I'll be in Washington DC all Friday.
* In Baltimore Friday evening and Saturday.
* Sunday through Tuesday I'll be in NYC.
Hope to run into so of you on the road! Wanna say hi? drop me an e-mail or tweet and I'll be happy to try to meet up.

To Code: Bearded Business
To Code: A Guide to Being A Better Gentleman
I'm excited to have To Code back! I have a lot of them lined up for you this year, expect a new one 2-4 times a month.
Now on to the ever so hip beard. 10 years ago it was the goatee, now its mustaches and full beards.
I have nothing against beards, I grew up in a small Southern rural city in the mountains, beards are normal. Thing is, these "mans-men" kept their beards in check! Some are thick, some are long, some are short, but not often out of control.
If your beard looks like a used Brillo pad its time to trim it up. Even if you're trying to grow it out, at no point should your face look like your armpit hair got confused and started growing in the wrong place.
Clip your whiskers to an even layered pelt followed by a gentle brushing every couple days. Point black - The End.
Your friends, girlfriend, or wife will no longer be embarrassed to been seen in public with. They will also finally stop telling everyone you're auditioning for a movie role as a member of al-Qaeda, or having issues with a over productive pituitary glad.

Fur is one of those fashion staples that come and go often.
Take a Second Look at fur on the street.
How do you wear fur?

New feature... Second Look
For some time I've been wanting to add posts with multiple looks from images I've taken over the years (2.5 of them now) example - Look how people are wearing the same shoes in the same color in both the South and NYC two years apart.
I'm calling this "Second Look."
The only down side is, (of course) an other fairly well known street style blogger already started this similar concept. I only have 2 years of photos to pull from unlike his 8, so I haven't felt I had enough photos to do it with until now.
Aside the fact that he beat me too the punch, I'm not letting what may some may see as a stream of un-originality stop me from sharing great posts and style inspirations to you. Mine has a different name anyways, so :-P to youScott Schuman... I mean, blogger I shall not name.
Check out the first "Second Look" post here.

Rachel Gordon...One Love Design, Charleston, SC
For the past 9 months (not kidding, 9 months), I've been trying to figure out the best way to write a short post on Rachel Gordon, a friend and designer based in Charleston. I think its part of the fashion world, you make such great connections with people who you only get to see a few times a year.
In the brief time of knowing her, Rachel seems to just be one of those individuals who are so dynamic personally, and creatively, trying to describe them in a few sentences is quite difficult.
To save time, here is how I will describe Rachel for you.
- Rachel is a incredibly kind, beautiful, approachable person.
- Like most creative people, Rachel is a perfectionest - Example " Well, I didn't have anything to wear today, so I stayed up last night and made these pants." ~ Rachel telling me about her outfit after her show in Charleston last March. (See 4th photo down)
- Rachel makes really rad dresses. (See all photos below)
- Rachel would also like everyone to know that her "goddess" dresses are not just for tall skinny people. (my wife's reason not to try one on before. My new reason to make her try one on anyways and hopefully buy one of Rachel's off white, plunge neck dresses. LOVE!!)
- Lastly, Rachel likes sneaking in Southern based Street Style bloggers back stage at shows because apparently we are OK to hang around.
THE END - on to pictures.

On the Street... "A Well Matched Pair," Wasington DC
Its refreshing to meet a pair of teens not dressed like walking mall store ads. To me, this is exactly what a teens style should be while in High School. College is where it will get refined, the natural progression of style by age, its how it should work all the time. Well do ladies.

On the Street... "Red Attack," Washington DC
Its the subtleties that make style great sometimes. I walked by and wasn't considering taking this photo, it was when I took a double take and realized that he shoes weren't sneakers but boots. Kind of a red sneaker, combat boot hybrid.
