Visiting Charleston SC
I'll be in Charleston this Friday and Saturday, I got a full schedule but I plan to set aside some time to hit the street with my camera.
Charleston is a lot of fun on the blogging front, I can walk down King Street and get a months worth of photos in about 30 minutes. I'm still working out my schedule but I'm hoping to meet up with a few people while in town also, we'll see if our schedules will line up.

VITA Fashion Show: Lynchburg, VA

Last weekend I attended the VITA fashion show in Lynchburg, VA. For those that follow my blog you know I'm making it a point to find and attend local fashion shows. Unfortunately with the VITA show promotion wasn't great and I found out about this show 3 days before it happened so my expectations were a bit low. Backstage chaos was a bit too visible to guests, an apparent limited organization was in the air, and the lighting was less than great (unless you were a panting on the wall, it was a art gallery after all). Aside of their faults the entertainment was great, the models were stunning, and the designs covered a great range of creativity. I'll give VITA a slight break since this was the first year at this venue. Did I mention lighting? I can't tell you how important lighting is to a fashion show, a spot light at the entrance and at the end of the runway/turning point would be more than enough, its called key lighting and a little goes a long way.
Check back this week for some photos from VITA's show.

Good Things To Come
So I have a lot happening in the upcoming months, I'm not is a rush to tell everyone whats going on so you'll just have to wait to find out.
To prepare for one of my new gigs, I had the privilege to do some one on one training with Kyle Green who is a photojournalist with The Roanoke Times, you can check out his bio here and view his work here. Kyle is a really cool guy and I got a lot out of my afternoon, I think my photos will start to reflect what he showed me.
As luck would have it, I had lined up a few volunteer models to help me work on some techniques That I've had in mind which happened to fall on the same day I met with Kyle. This week I'll be featuring a different model each day who came out and helped me out, Although each pose and outfit was planned before hand, Its defiantly a weeks to check the blog daily.
You'll also notice I took head shots of each model, I took a portrait of a friend of mind last week at the mall in Christiansburg and I'm sort of obsessed with taking head shots now. Don't worry though, I won't start clogging up my posts with portraits of people even though they are really cool and fun to shoot.

International Street Fair, Blacksburg
Since the street fair was held indoors this year, it was hard to find people outside not huddled around grills or tables of food.

To Code: Classic Sneakers
April's To Code: A Guide to Being A Better Gentleman
Warm weather is on the horizon, sock are again optional. Although I'm the first person to put on a pair of thongs Sandals, a good pair of classic sneaker is a must in every mans (and womens) closet. A pair of classic Vans in navy blue or white or all white Lo-Top Chuck Taylor's are probably the Industry standards.
I would like to introduce SeaVees Pantone. I ordered my pair of gray Pantone's over Christmas, after breaking them in I honestly can't stop wearing them.
The Pantone's aren't the lightest shoe, but the quality in the build and over all comfort is hard to beat, they are more comfortable then any athletic shoe I've ever wore.
SeaVees, a small company in California is making a stand out product that you need to experience. Since buying my pair, SeaVees have launched a new line of the Pantone made of all canvas martial which drops the price to under $100. You might think, YIKES!! More than $100 for a pair of sneakers? I see people blow out $150 or more on the much less fashionable Nike Air Jordan's, where SeaVees want to stand out with great detailing, standing behind their product. I e-mailed them a few times with questions and they responded quickly with helpful detailed answers. As you see in my photos, not only do they come with individual cloth shoe bags, they have a very cool patch sewn into the sole with their name imprinted on it.
If your interested in trying on a pair of Pantones, which I highly recommend, If you live in Richmond you can go to The Need Suppy Co. in Carytown or online at needsupply.com , If you can't find what you want there send me an e-mail and I'll put you in contact with Derek at SeaVees and he'll help you get the right shoe.
