Radford University Fashion Show
This past weekend I had the privilege to attend another local fashion show this time at Radford University. I was again very impressed by the talent these students displayed in their clothing. All and All it was a fantastic show and I look forward to attending future events by the IDF at RU.

Street Style... "Cool and in High School," Blacksburg
When I asked this young man where he went to school and he told me he went to Blacksburg High School I had to do a double take just to believe him.

VA Tech FMDS Spring Fashion show, Part 1 of 2
This past weekend I attended The Fashion Merchandising and Design Society spring fashion show at Virginia Tech. Once again the ladies of the FMDS impressed me with their student designs that were featured on the runway. Unfortunately I didn't get prime seating but was able to set up camp behind some stage lighting which worked out for some great photos. Here are my top picks from the show.

Street Style... Farmers Market, Blacksburg
First photo with the new camera and lens, I didn't edit this photo at all, its raw right off the memory card. I'm a bit floored how great my photos turn out today, even in direct sunlight the photo turned out well. Having the proper gear really does make all the difference.
By the way this is Marcus, he has become a Blacksburg regular on the blog. Its always fun to see what he's wearing.

Honduras Part 2
So I'm still recovering from my trip to Honduras, I woke up painfully early each day while away. Aside of that I have to say that I love visit my family and my home land. As far as any street style, I really didn't have time to take photos, not to mention its not the safest place to go walking around, but all in all the styles are very Latin America, you can see the Spanish (Spain) influence in the over all attire. Aside of that I really enjoyed myself as always, Honduras and Latin American in general is a wild adventure that everyone needs to experience at least once, far away from the heavily toured Caribbean Islands and Mexico, the food, the people, its all amazing. Pretty much of all my photos are personal, but I'll share one photo from my Grandmothers birthday party. If you can rap your head around it, this is probably only 1/2 of my family on my mothers side of the house, and there was at least 10 people who were at the party who were not in this photo, there is a lot of us.

To Code: Tie It down
March's To Code: A Guide to being a better Gentleman
So you got your slim ties, or really any tie that's not a 1973 four inch wide tie, but now you need to keep that guy in check under your sweater, suit coat, blazer, cardigan. Easy fix! Just add some "man bling" with a tie bar. They are cool, chic and keep your tie in place or from blowing around in the wind.
Just remember some simple rules its part jewelery, but also serves a purpose. Depending on your coat/sweater of choice position your tie bar high enough to be seen, but not so high where it still lets your tie move all over the place which defeats the purpose of any tie apparatus.
Now say you skip the coat and just want a tie, find the middle of your tie by bringing the tip of the tie to the base of your knot and find your mid point, place tie bar accordingly. If your tie bar goes missing don't worry, go raid the junk drawer and find the biggest safety pin you have, push it through your tie and shirt and close. Once your take it out at the end of the day, pushing around the material where the pin holes are left and the the fibers should tighten back up leaving your tie good as new.
There you go! Just remember, no matter what you use to keep your tie at bay keep its design simple. Now go put on a tie and wear it grocery shopping because you can.

Honduras
If you didn't know, I'm was born in Honduras. I'm visiting right now with family, I'd like to find some cool Latin American street style while down here but its not on the top of the priority list. we'll see. Also, I just got a new (to me) Sony A100 SLR camera that I'll be running a Minolta 50mm Prime lens with a 1.7f aperture. I'm really looking forward to coming home and hitting the street and getting some great photos with my new cam. I think you'll really enjoy the higher quality photos this will bring, though forgive me for a few weeks while master the new learning curve.
